But what really shows who we are, is what we do. We can think that we are good, bad, nice, kind, jealous or something else. In my opinion, we are what our actions are. Maybe deep inside I`m not generous, I don’t like to share, but I`m only trained with different “reinforcers” to behave as generous, who am I then? From that communication we receive and give we give and receive some part of our personality. We communicate all the time, with friends, family, surrounding, etc. If I offer you a chocolate and you give me a compliment, “thanks” or “you are the best” I will most probably share it again. There is something in behavioral psychology called “reinforcer”, and by definition anything that follows a behavior that increases the chances of that behavior occurring again1. One of them is what we think about ourselves, what others think about us, what we think that others think about us, what of this is real for us?įor me, what we think about who we are is inextricably connected with our interaction with others. Who we are is the great question and filled with many layers of possible answers.
